Red Dragon Caught By Frost

Bottom-of the table Brewood have surprised leaders Red Dragons in the premier division of the Wolverhampton and District Sunday Football League.

They upset the form by holding them to a 1-1 draw, thanks to a 25-year free-kick by Craig Frost after John Stainer had put the Dragon ahead.

Fordhouses came back from a goal down to beat Willenhall 3-1 with goals from Tony Williams, Rob Forrest and Ian Dell.

Top-of-the-table Sankey Vending faced a tough examination against White Horse in division one.

Having led 3-1 at half-time with two goals from Steve Davis. White Horse stormed back to equalise but Davis completed his hat-trick to clinch the points for Sankey.

Essington beat title-chasing Park Village 4-2, coming back from a goal behind in the second half with late goals from Steve Hill and Chris Jones. Richard Finch's brace kept Viliers in touch with the leaders with a 2-0 win over Castlecroft.

Diffusion dropped their first points of the season with a 2-2 draw against Gornal United in division 2, fighting back from two goals down with Ben Hanshaw equalising late-on.

Connaught continued their impressive form with a 2-0 win over Tettenhall Bird in Hand, a goal coming in each half from Ian Howroyd and David Wedge.,

Sedgley ex-Services kept up their chase for a league and cup double with a four-goal hammering of King Charles, Alan Kent, David Bunt, Ade Jones and John Fletcher getting on the scoresheet.

Parkbrook failed to take advantage of a blank weekend for division three leaders Oxley Moor as they were held to a thrilling 4-4 draw by Chestnut Tree. Andy Gnosal, Russ Evans and Wayne Knight hit Chestnut's first half goals but they were matched by goals from John Reece, John Ball and Dave McClaren .

Andy Corbett scored again for Chestnut but another equaliser came from Reece.

Bushbury WMC also missed the chance to make up ground, beaten by a solitary strike from Castle's Wayne Aldersley.

Division four leaders Goodyear had to wait until the second half to grind down a well-organised Windsor Crown side with Scot Moore and Colin Noble scoring for the promotion-chasers. .

Broadway maintained their lead at the top of division five with a convincing 4-1 win over Sedgley Conservatives and HUF dealt a blow to Firs division six title hopes, holding them to a 3-3 draw.

Kevin Freeman's second-half hat-trick helped Borough Arms come back from 2-0 down at half-time against Lakeside Allstars to win 6-2 in division seven.

A Stuart Hale goal, direct from a corner, helped Three Tuns to a 2-1 win against Oxley.
