Referee:
|
After
last weeks resounding win over Merry Hill the lads were full of enthusiasm
to keep their momentum going. The Firs took control from the start
and I must say missed some easy chances. After twenty minutes Calvin
McHale finally opened the score for the Firs and that is how it remained
till the fortieth when Bryn Jones scored a cracker. Half time within
sight Oxley Homestead pulled one back within a dubious bounce which
bobbled and left James Haughty totally bemused when it hit the net.
Yet when the restart not 60 seconds old Calvin McHale scored to make
the score 1-3 at the interval.
The second half was a scrappy affair with the Firs in control and
Jason Booth (Strachan) was outstanding and unfortunate not to score
on several occasions. He did get a result in the end by winning the
football card but the way his luck was going he had gone before receiving
his money. Andy Haughton also played well snatching a fourth goal,
with time running out Wayne Hughes took a long throw in which by all
accounts stunned everybody as it sailed into the goal. The referee
signalled goal, well they all count, and well-done lad who I may say
had an outstanding game.
The game ended with the Firs worthy winner 5-1, it must be said though
young John Alexander sustained a groin strain in the pre-match warm
up and could not take any further part, talk about unlucky. For the
second week running justifiably Bryan Jones was awarded Man Of The
Match. |
