Referee: Allen Dillon
For the second week running another cup game and away yet again, as Chris Turner said: “ We’ll need an A to Z to find Danescourt it been that long since we’ve seen home turf!” With a last minute inspection the referee gave the go ahead and it was game on. Our opponents, Noah’s Ark, were two divisions below Firs and big things were expected but with cups matches who knows.
As expected Firs were too strong for the Ark and within ten minutes Calvin McHale scored his first goal. With traffic all one way the ting was going to be a landslide and in less than 5 minutes Darren scored his first with the clinical finishing we know to expect. The game barely restarted and Calvin McHale gets his second with a dream of a shot. The Ark completely under the cosh saw Bryn Jones with a peach of a run only to see his well timed lob bounce off the bar. As stated bets on Firs reaching double figures saw Calvin get his hat trick and Andy Haughty scoring made the score 5-0 at half time.
The second half, and what a change, Firs seemed to be complacent and let their grip on the game slip considerably. One bright spot was Darren Evans scorcher, although the Ark completely demoralised they kept plodding on and were rewarded with a goal that can only be said was a diabolical defensive error.
Firs now playing mediocally had Calvin McHale run through round the goalkeeper with only the net infront of him, and you guessed it missed! Never mind he’s scored 10 in 3 games. Also on a lighter note Gary Dunseath seems to be making a fashion statement last week yellow hair and this week a reddish colour, very festive! We will let you know what colour it is next.
