With
the taste of defeat only two days old in the Skedgel cup Firs now
had the task of pulling themselves together for the still on chance
of winning the league. In the previous game against Bentlands Firs
had a comfortable win of 7-0 but today started as a bit of a shock
for Firs. Whether the cup game had taken its toll Firs started shockingly
and I’ve never seen them play so appallingly and it showed
when Bentlands went one up. Shambles was the only description the
way Firs were playing and it looked like the league title was going
to slip through their fingers. Slowly they started to get some sort
of discipline and managed to equalize only to see Bentlands score
again.
Half time came and manager Tony McGinn gave them the mother and
father of all pep talks, its sure as heck wouldn’t get a X
certificate !!
Did it work by Hell it did Firs playing better started to gel and
netted four times to run out winners 5-2 and keep their chances
of the league title still in their sights!
