History Of The Challengers
The Firs Challengers and other patrons of the Firs have spent the last six years actively involved in raising monies for local charities. The Firs, located in Castlecroft, Wolverhampton, now holds a tradition for turning August Bank Holiday Monday into ‘Charity Day At The Firs’. Over these bank holidays monies in excess of £92,000, collected over the years, has been handed over to charities supporting people less fortunate than ourselves. Supported charities have included; Guide Dogs for the Blind, The Happy Society, Air Ambulance, MS Centre, Penn Hospital, Children with Leukaemia, Children with Diabetes, New Cross Hospital, Dr Bernardo’s, Bridgnorth Lions, the local division of the RSNC and of course, Compton Hospice. Now that is some impressive list!
It is not surprising with this track record that past masters of the Bridgnorth Lions Raft Regatta should team up this year and form the ‘Firs Challengers’ to take on the charity challenge of a lifetime. But please remember without the generous donations, sponsorship and support from local businesses and residents none of this would be possible.
